Is it just me, or is, like, everyone being really weird lately? Several folks I’ve followed throughout social media are throwing in the towel (which, totally no judgement because social media is awful) or, they’ve gotten all douchey (because they’re trying to be the next new big social media influencer or some shit – seriously, stop that shit).

Well, that’s my perspective, anyway. I was pondering this last night as I laid in bed at freakin’ 8pm seriously about to fall asleep and I was all “Oh, damn! I haven’t updated in forever!” So here I am. YOU’RE WELCOME, INTERNET.

Don’t worry, y’all, you didn’t miss anything. Otherwise I would have updated.

Basically I’ve been doing low-carb since I quit OptiFast and it’s…weird. It’s being weird because, well, I’m not losing weight. In fact, I think I’ve gained about 3 pounds, all told. And I’m a little stumped because, seriously, I’m counting my carbs! And I’m also watching my calorie intake! And I’m drinking water and all that jazz! And this has worked for me countless times before!!!! Okay, seriously, I’m done with the exclamation points. Maybe.

So I’ve been trying to not be bummed about it and, mostly, I’m succeeding. I can see the really positive changes to my overall diet/life in that I haven’t cheated once since coming off of OptiFast. I am not craving sugar the way I did prior to this journey. Most days I have done food prep properly and am well stocked to make it through my day. The days where I mess that up, I have made proper decisions for eating out. I even went to an office lunch at a restaurant this week and managed to do very well! (Told you I probably wasn’t done – sorry.)

But I AM bummed a bit because I still have like 100 pounds to lose. My working theory is that I lost a lot more muscle than I thought I did while doing OptiFast – which isn’t surprising. If you’re eating a very low calorie diet and you’re not doing a lot of strength training, I kind of think it’s inevitable. I did *some* strength training, but not nearly enough. And now I’m offering my body all kinds of protein and stuff and my muscles are gobbling it up. Dear baby Jesus in your golden fleece diaper, PLEASE let that be what this is.

My wife is still going strong on OptiFast and has now lost more weight than me and weighs less than I do. Which is great even if I’m a little bitter bunny about it from time to time. Seriously, though, it is great and I’m really not that bitter about it at all. Just … sometimes. LOL

Finally, work is kicking my ass so hard because it’s that time of year. So, probably another 2 weeks of this and then I should be able to breathe again. We’re going camping at the end of the month, so that will be so great to help recharge my batteries after I get through all this work crap.

I hope you are all doing well! I have still be jumping on to follow all of you as much as I can. Stay safe and well and keep up the good fight!
